What is the future of MicroFIT in Ontario?

SWITCH recently participated in the Ministry of Energy’s consultation and engagement on a concept proposal for the net metering/self-consumption (NM/SC) program that will take the place of the microFIT program in Ontario.

You can find a Q&A document summarizing questions from the webinar and in-person sessions, with the Ministry’s responses to these questions here.

Next Steps:

The Ministry is now considering all feedback received as they develop a program proposal. The Ministry expects to post this program proposal to the Environmental Registry for comment.

Ontario’s 2013 Long-Term Energy Plan committed to examine the potential for the microFIT program to transition from a generation purchasing program to a net metering program. The Ministry of Energy has now developed a program concept proposal for a net metering/self-consumption program.

You are invited to a background webinar on August 27, 2015 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. (EDT) on this program concept proposal. The background webinar will also outline the Ministry’s phased engagement plan.

If you are unable to attend the live webinar, please forward the invite to another contact within your organization. A recording will also be made available after the webinar.
