Kings Lock launch“We have started production and have spirits ready to be bottled and sold and we are awaiting the final permits from the province which are expected in three weeks,” said distillery co-owner Laura Bradley.

Bradley was guest speaker for the annual general meeting of the Grenville Community Futures Development Corporation (GCFDC) which supported the project with a $100,000 federal grant provided under the Eastern Ontario Development Program.

She said the distillery will use as much local organic grains as possible to produce rye, whisky, vodka, gin and a rum-like drink to be called Thousand Islands Moonshine.

Contracts with local grain producers have already been established, she added.
